With 10cm Holes the head cover (chunni) is stretched around a 10cm steel ring forming the centre, the hole, the metaphoric birthing chamber. This allows for the taboos associated with discussing labour, birth and sexuality in Indian society to be broken.

As Rana-Allen explains 'my cervix did not stretch to 10cms, it reached nine and a half centimetres. This may not seem traumatic, but in conjunction with a forty-eight-hour labour, without much pain relief, it had a psychological effect on me. Those five millimetres made the difference between my having a natural delivery, assisted delivery or an emergency Caesarean section.'
