1947 is a white silk digital print 3m x 1m, stretched and hung from a white curtain rail with another at the base which is held in place by two small stone sculptures - yoni lingum. This installation commemorating Indian women, their histories, their religions and their aspirations. This piece aimed to unite these women who had been divided through religious warfare. The artwork attempts to state their self-governance and empowerment, their resistance to stifling patriarchy that disempowers them through religious control.
