Suban Duba literal translation Soap Box - references the entangled history of Independence and Partition, autonomy and division. India's 'freedom' from British rule in 1947 resulted in the deaths of up to 3 million people and the displacement of a further 20 million. Religious warfare, incited by the British, turned Sikhs and Hindus against Muslims and led to a rise in violence and mutilation against women.
